Tonight I feel sad. It is always sad when someone in the world dies, but right now I am almost surprised by how sad I feel. The first record I ever bought was Thiller. Imagine my delight when I opened it up to discover not only a photo of Michael Jackson, but a tiger cub with him in the album sleeve! I still remember putting red foil hearts all over the inside of that album and loving it so much! I remember my mom hating P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)and Billie Jean and always being amazed by his dance moves. We all did the moonwalk and acted out Thiller! I remember later experiencing the rocking Off The Wall album and all of the amazing Jackson 5 music and always hating to love all the new Michael Jackson songs. He could create a pop song that was serious infectious. His personal life was beyond a doubt troubling, but so much of that was, I think created by our culture of celebrity. I am mourning Michael and saying goodbye to my childhood.
